Karl joined @properties as a full time sales associate in September 2001 when the company had less than 15 agents. Over 10 years later and with 1200 agents in the company he's pround to be part of such a fantastic organization. He brings with him previous financial and relationship management experience. This, coupled with understanding the importance of listening to his clients’ needs, is paramount in providing a quality, efficient and enjoyable home buying/selling experience.
'The most important aspect of my career is the ability to say that I enjoy what I do! I bring an enthusiastic and hard-working attitude to the table for each and every client I have the opportunity to work with. My goal is to ensure that my clients receive superior service whether you're selling your home or a first-time home buyer".
Karl lives with his family in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago. Having lived in the city for the last eighteen years he has become intimately familiar with many of Chicago's diverse neighborhoods. His extensive familiarity with the city and what each neighborhood has to offer is invaluable to his clients.
As a member of the @properties FNCF (Friends and Neighbors Community Fund) Advisory Board, Karl works with other board members, other agents and their clients to support the communities and neighborhoods in which we live and work. The Fund raises funds through internal giving and fundraising campaigns to give back to programs that focus on homelessness, education, and youth development.
Before coming to @properties, Karl spent over eight years gaining experience in the corporate world. Karl graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in finance. In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, a newly found interest in woodworking, all too infrequent trips to Michigan, and spending time with his wife and two children.
What Karl's clients are saying:
"As a first time homebuyer, I was extremely overwhelmed at the onset. Karl made everything simple and smooth by clearly explaining each step of the process. He understood exactly what I was looking for, and did not waste my time with properties that were outside my criteria. He was a trustworthy partner when evaluating each property by pointing out details I otherwise would have failed to notice. Ultimately, Karl gave me the confidence to purchase my first property, and facilitated an easy process. "

"My wife and I were looking for our first condo. We'd lived in our neighborhood for years, and wanted to make sure we were working with someone who knew the area as well as we did. Karl Whittenbarger listened carefully to what we wanted, and showed us a wide variety of homes that were within our budget. When we couldn't find exactly the right home, he introduced us to a new construction project that hadn't yet been publicized. We fell in love with the building, as it was right down the street from our existing apartment! Karl worked with us through every step of the construction process, even offering advice during the selction process for our finishes and upgrades. He also introduced us to a real estate attorney and worked closely with our existing mortgage broker. From our initial search to the day we closed, Karl was there to help make the difficult decisions much easier!"

“When I was selling my condo, I was also relocating to another state, getting married and starting a new job, so Karl’s thorough communication and personal touches made the condo the least of my worries. Not only that, he was there and available when anything needed to be done with the condo while it was on the market. Karl always provided information regarding the amount of traffic at the condo as well as feedback from people who had seen my place. His guidance during the process expedited the sale of my place during a slow market. He is a great businessman and Realtor!”
