Meet Team Karl

Karl Vogel was born to sell real estate. He was the kid who liked selling candy bars door to door in grade school. His favorite show when he was a teenager was "This Old House" with Bob Vila. Everything he loves relates to homes and everything he is good at relates to sales, marketing and promotion. He attended Syracuse University and University of Illinois in Urbana and earned degrees in Photography and Art History. Before beginning his highly successful real estate career in 2001, he had every job in the book. From being an intern at CNN to substitute teaching in Chicago Public Schools to being an "advertising production coordinator" for a large residential real estate company here in Chicago, he tried everything...but nothing ever clicked...until he started selling homes. He loves working with all types of people and thrives on helping people with the biggest purchases of their lives. He was one of the top producers at his previous firm 5 years in a row starting in 2004 working his way up the ladder and continues to grow his business through his referral network of happy past clients. He joined @properties in August 2009 and has been thrilled with their superior marketing, branding and dominant web presence in Chicago. He loves selling real estate and his main focus whether he is working with a first time buyer or a seasoned developer is always getting his clients the best investment possible. According to Karl, the beauty of real estate is that every deal is unique and you are constantly learning something new everyday. The market's constant shifting and the diverse nature of clients is what makes selling real estate exciting to him. His clients range the gamut from first time buyers to small investors to developers. He loves being an expert at what he does and knows Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs well. Some of his main areas of focus for residential listing are Lakewood Balmoral/Andersonville, Edgewater Glen/Edgewater and Evanston's Lake Shore Historic District. He is an expert in the single family market in these areas and has lived in or near all three areas for the past 10 years. He is also an expert on small investment properties and owns small buildings in Ukrainian Village, Uptown and Andersonville. He is very in tune with the Chicago's rental market as it relates to small multi-unit investors and loves working with buyers looking for 2 flats and 3 flats. He has also worked in property managment and leasing for a small family run managent company with buildings all along Chicago's lakefront before becoming a Realtor. He is currently at work on his new home and fifth rehab project: a c. 1909 Arts and Crafts American Four Square in Evanston's Lakeshore Historic District. When he's not working he enjoys buying vintage furniture and accessories for his booth at the Edgewater Antique Mall, gardening, playing basketball and riding his bike along the lake. He is an avid traveler, cook and speaks conversational Spanish.
