A native of Chicago, James Horwath specializes in residential sales in city neighborhoods and the near suburbs. He has been a real estate professional for the past 15 years and has over 25 years of sales, management, and consulting experience.
James joined @properties in December, 2014 after more than seven years with Berkshire Hathaway/Koenig Rubloff Properties and four years with Baird & Warner. While at Berkshire Hathaway, he was a Certified Relocation Specialist, a Luxury Collection„¢ Specialist, and earned the Accredited Distressed Property Representative (ADPR) designation. While at Baird & Warner he was elected to serve on the B&W Lincoln Park Office Advisory Board in 2006 and 2007 and was appointed to the Corporate Agent Advisory Board in 2007. He has consistently been a Chicago Association of Realtors Top Producer and has earned numerous annual awards for his sales achievements.
Prior to his real estate career, James was a management consultant, holding positions as Senior Manager with KPMG Consulting and Principal Consultant with Price Waterhouse. Prior to this he was Director of Information Technology for the Investments Division of CNA Insurance. He also held technical and managerial positions at The Continuum Company, Transamerica Commercial Finance, and Time Warner.
Prior to working in the business sector, he was a professional musician. James holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music degree from the University of Oregon, and was a participant in the International Academy of Organists in Haarlem, The Netherlands, and did independent study in Switzerland.
James enjoys working with buyers and sellers of all ages and backgrounds. Having been a longtime city resident, he has intimate knowledge of many city and suburban areas.
