Real Estate was not the original career path for Kirk, but has proven to be an industry that he thrives in. After attending Purdue University as a flight major, he came to Chicago in hopes of pursuing a career as a pilot. He initially worked as a flight instructor but unfortunately did not have enough students to make ends meet and was forced to pursue another path. That path turned out to be in Real Estate.
Starting from the bottom, as a field representative (or “gopher” as it’s often called) he got to know the City of Chicago quite well while driving to all areas of the city for property inspections. Quickly moving up in the company, he was promoted to an office position where he worked in many areas from property preservation to pre-marketing to sales while ending as an office manager. Kirk moved out of the office when he received his broker’s license.
