As a lifelong resident of Chicago, Stephen knows the many benefits of Chicago neighborhoods, Chicago’s many cultural institutions, school systems, restaurants and neighborhood parks. He enjoys highlighting these city features with home buyers, while integrating this knowledge into each home’s marketing plan. Stephen not only sells the home, but also the neighborhood. Born and raised in Garfield Ridge on Chicago's southwest side, Stephen has lived and worked in several of Chicago's neighborhoods including (but not limited to) Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Andersonville, Wrigleyville, Southport Corridor, Edgewater Glen, Lincoln Square, Bucktown, Wicker Park, West Loop, River North, the South Loop, and Uptown. Stephen is proud to call Chicago home and loves sharing the diversity of his knowledge with each client.
Stephen joined @properties in 2007 and quickly became a multi-million dollar producer. With a background in Management Information Technology from - Loras College, Stephen leverages technology, utilizing a variety of websites and tools to provide the most accurate and timely data in purchasing or selling a home. Stephen thrives in analytical thinking, problem-solving and statistics; he understands home data and trends and has the ability to communicate this information efficiently to each client.
Stephen uses a team atmosphere with Ryan Douglas Wells, Andy Bishop, David Carlson, and Martyn Smith to assist his clients in his absence. He also surrounds each client with experienced and well qualified attorneys, inspectors and lenders. Ryan hails from Ohio, but has been a Chicagoan since 2006. He joined @properties in 2012 and quickly became a multi-million dollar producer, owed in large part to his commitment to client service. Ryan's approach centers on finding individual success for each client, tailored to each's unique goals. Every client will have a different definition of "success," and Ryan has built his business on helping his clients identify their own paths, understanding the options available to them in the marketplace. The client feels advised, guided, and supported throughout the sometimes daunting process of buying and selling a home. He works with @properties and Stephen Hnatow, as part of Stephen+Ryan, because of the shared vision of what a real estate transaction should entail.
Ryan is the father of twins, and resides with his husband in Lakeview. He has also lived in Rogers Park and Wicker Park, and has helped clients find success throughout the city, from Hyde Park to Evanston.

Martyn is a trusted advisor, consultant and deal maker working with both buyers and sellers in the Chicago real estate market. With over 20 years’ experience in professional consulting and international project management, Martyn has managed multimillion dollar projects across five continents. Although this very British national has lived around the world, he has called Chicago his home since 1998, purchasing and remodeling homes in both the Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhoods. Recently, Martyn joined the highly successful team of Stephen Hnatow & Associates at @properties, the number 1 brokerage firm in Chicago. The Stephen Hnatow and Associates team managed over 22 million in inventory under contract and sold in 2012. This dynamic team leads the Chicago market with the highest sales price to original list price of 98.8% and an average listing time of 23 days. Compared to the Chicago market average of 91.5% for sales price to original list and 139 days average listing time – this team can confidently “claim to be in the top” 100 of the 11,000 Chicago Association of Realtors licensees.

Martyn lived in the United Kingdom until a few years after graduating from Buckingham University. He then started his international consulting career which saw him living and working in the Czech Republic, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, French Polynesia, Kenya and several of the former Soviet States. He still enjoys traveling the world, but is proud to call Chicago home, which he shares with his life partner Jim and their dog Tanner.
