The Best Wineries And Breweries For Summer In Southwest Michigan And Northwest Indiana

In July and August, we’re headed to Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana for our second annual @properties Home for the Summer tour. While we’re excited to give you a sneak peek of some of the beautiful properties we have to offer in these resort home communities, we’re also excited to spend some time in the sun.

If there’s one thing Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana are known for – besides the white sandy beaches, gorgeous scenery, and exceptional homes – it’s the libations.

Known as the “Napa Valley of the Midwest,” this region of resort towns offers breweries, distilleries and wineries alike. Whether you’re looking for a daylong adventure, perfect wine and food pairings, or a leisurely afternoon with friends, be sure to check out some of our favorite spots for summer sipping.

Harbor Country Adventures Stem and Stein Adventure

A farm to table lunch is part of your all-inclusive experience, a treat only offered with Harbor Country Adventures.

Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail

Harbor Country’s gift to wine aficionados? A cluster of 21 wineries and tasting rooms all within a short distance of one another. If you’re looking to make a day of it, the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail is what you’ve been waiting for as you pop into as many (or as few) award-winning wineries you choose. End the day with wine in hand and bask in the glow of one of Michigan’s beachfront sunsets.

Journeyman Distillery

Some people come to Three Oaks to look for homes with character, others look for that same character in their distilleries. Journeyman Distillery visitors are immersed in a totally historic setting that includes original maple factory floors from the 1800s, and a concrete bar made in Grand Rapids featuring etched coordinates marking the distillery’s unique location. Whiskey connoisseurs will enjoy taking a tour and peeking through gallery windows with a front-row view to the distillation process. Stay for a bite at the recently introduced Staymaker, a full-service restaurant at Journeyman.

St. Julian Winery

Nearly 100 years and many generations make St. Julian winery Michigan’s oldest and most awarded. Honoring the “soul of Michigan,” this small town winery packs a punch, consistently offering new wines, ciders, spirits, and beer. For an added special something, sign up for the St. Julian Wine Club for access to exclusive wines not yet released to the public. Take part in this piece of Harbor Country history as you learn more about winemaking and all the while making memories with your friends and family.
