Jim Fredian was born and raised in the Chicago area and earned a business degree from the University of Notre Dame. Rather than start his business career immediately after graduation, Jim first spent two years living in rural Alabama as a volunteer in the VISTA program (the domestic counterpart to the Peace Corps). After that he began work with one of the big international accounting and consulting firms in Chicago. His three year career there was interrupted by a job offer to be a hotel general manager in Yellowstone National Park. Although it was a great job, Jim was lured back from paradise after five years by a partner in his former firm and resumed his career in Chicago. Along the way he also passed the CPA exam and the Certified Financial Planner exam.

Jims involvement in real estate began in 1993 when he purchased a four flat in Lincoln Park, and over the next few years he purchased several more rental properties. Jim became a realtor in 1996 on a part time basis, going full time in 2000 and joining @properties in November 2007. Jim has visited all 50 states and lived in all types of housing, including a double-wide trailer and a cabin, and uses this broad background, his experience in client service industries and his extensive knowledge of Chicago neighborhoods to better serve his clients in their search for single family homes, condos and 2-4 unit buildings.

Jim and his wife, Michaela, lived for many years in Lincoln Park and have recently moved to Arlington Heights with their children Jack, Charlie, and Katie. They live in a green house that they designed and built which received the governments highest Energy Star rating and features solar panels for heating and hot water, special foam insulation and decking made from recycled milk cartons. Jim enjoys running and cycling and has completed several marathons and long distance races/rides. He also enjoys reading and is a 15+ year member of a book discussion group.
