Bartlett

The community of Bartlett has stayed true to its motto: “Pride in progress.”

Progress first came to the town when settlers Luther and Sophia Bartlett offered half of their 40-acre woodlot to land a railroad station as the railroad made its way west from Chicago to Elgin. In those days, a train depot could put a town on the map. That was the case for the Village of Bartlett, which is just 35 miles northwest of The Loop.

Today a modern Metra commuter railroad station in downtown Bartlett offers a 50-minute commute to the Loop.

Bartlett is proud of maintaining its small-town feel and charming downtown while welcoming progress such as the shopping centers along the Route 59 corridor. The community has a wide variety of dining options, ranging from national chains to fine dining to eateries unique to the village.

The village also has plenty of wide-open spaces and recreational activities. The Bartlett Park District includes more than 380 acres of parklands with pools, skate and ski facilities, and playgrounds. Residents can ride along a 19.6-mile bike path, visit a 541-acre state park and two forest preserves, and enjoy a round of golf at the village’s 18-hole municipal golf course.
