Elmwood Park

The village of Elmwood Park has become a dining destination with classic Italian restaurants and a variety of eateries along “Restaurant Row.” The village hosts the annual Taste of Elmwood Park, which features live entertainment and some of Elmwood Park’s finest restaurants.

Elmwood Park incorporated in 1914 to prevent annexation by the city of Chicago; however, a few landowners in the northeast corner voted to be annexed.

The village, which took its name from a nearby train stop and its native elm trees, has redeveloped areas to encourage visitors and residents to walk, shop and dine here.

Residents enjoy friendly neighborhoods and picturesque parks. Homes here include classic Chicago bungalows, three-flats, and ranch homes.

The village’s proximity to downtown Chicago and the Elmwood Park Station on Metra’s Milwaukee District/West Line make for a convenient commute.

Elmwood Park's public schools are operated under Illinois Community Unit School District #401, which includes Elmwood Park High School.
