Hazel Crest

Hazel Crest is part of the South Suburbs. The south suburbs offer residents suburban living with convenient access to the city. Three communities within the area – Homewood, South Holland and Park Forest, have been recognized by Forbes Magazine as the Chicago Metropolitan area's most livable suburbs.

Known for its deep industrial roots, the region has seen significant residential development over the years. Real estate in the south suburbs is more affordable than it is in the northern and northwest suburbs, with housing options including mostly single-family homes, as well as some townhomes and condominiums.

Students in the south suburbs are served by a number of school districts, such as Homewood Public School District 153, Flossmoor School District 161, South Holland School District 151 and more. Residents commute via the Tri-State Tollway, Bishop Ford Highway. CTA buses and the Metra Electric District also provide transportation to downtown Chicago.

The south suburbs are home to the Balmoral Park Race Track, which hosts harness racing throughout the year. The region also features golf courses and several parks and forest preserves, offering residents and visitors ample recreational opportunities.
