DeMotte

DeMotte is a thriving rural community with a variety of recreational opportunities.

The town has four parks including Spencer Park, which features grills, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a playground, and a pool. It’s also home to the Depot Museum. Run by the DeMotte Historical Society, the Depot serves as a local history museum and offers a look into the town’s past.

Spencer Park is also the site of several community events. In the summer, Wednesday nights are reserved for Market in the Park, where local vendors sell unique products, crafts, and goods. On Thursdays, residents enjoy outdoor movie nights with free popcorn. The local Chamber of Commerce also hosts the Touch of Dutch Festival, bringing delicious food, live entertainment, a parade, and a car show to the park every year.

Golf enthusiasts will find their place at Sandy Pines Golf Club. The challenging 18-hole course is a favorite among locals and features impressive greens, ponds, and bunkers. Sandy Pines is on the list of “Best Places to Play” by Golf Digest and is considered one of Northwest Indiana’s best-kept secrets.
