Cassopolis

Situated on approximately 2.25 square miles in Southwest Michigan and just north of the Indiana border, Cassopolis is a village located in central Cass County. A typical small Midwestern small town, Cassopolis has an historic urban downtown with traditional residential neighborhoods surrounding it.

The area of Cassopolis was platted in 1831, although it was not incorporated as a village for over a quarter of a century, in 1863. The town derives its name from Senator Lewis Cass, who was a prominent U.S. Senator from Michigan prior to the Civil War.

The village is home to the Cassopolis Public School District, which is comprised of Sam Adams Elementary, and Ross Beatty Junior/Senior High School. The town is served by the Canadian Northern Rail Road, and is just fifteen miles from the Indiana Toll Road and the South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart area.

Cassopolis is home to a number of parks and lakes, with Log Cabin Park being a prime spot for all watersports; Don Horne Park hosts the area’s sports facilities, including a baseball diamond. Stone Lake is a local favorite, with boating, fishing and sailing popular in the summer, and ice fishing in the winter.
