Nestled along the Fox River lies the close-knit village of Montgomery.
The village, incorporated in 1858, lies along both banks of the Fox River in Kane and Kendall counties, 40 miles west of Chicago.
Daniel Gray founded the village in 1835; the stone grist mill he built here has been restored and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The village has maintained its small town charm despite a rapidly growing population and increase in residential construction. The community increased from a population of 5,471 in 2000 to 18,438 just 10 years later.
Montgomery hosts a variety of community events for residents of all ages. In June and July, the village joins the Fox Valley Park District in hosting Concerts on the Park in Montgomery Park. The events are a lively way to bring the community together with line dance lessons, ice cream socials and barbeque dinners.
The village also hosts a 5K and 10K River Run every October. The U.S.A. Track and Field certified course that goes up and own both sides of the scenic Fox River, beginning and ending in front of the Village Hall.
The village is served by five K-12 school districts: West Aurora School District #129, East Aurora School District #131, Oswego Community Unit School District #308, Yorkville Community School District #115, and Kaneland Community Unit School District #302.
