About Bolingbrook

The southwest suburb of Bolingbrook started to take shape in the 1950s when housing development boomed. After 130 years as unincorporated farmland, the community became a village in 1965.

The village’s growth spurt continues. The population reached 7,000 by 1970; and 37,000 by 1980 thanks to annexations. The population today is about 74,300, making it the second largest village and the 17th largest incorporated place in the state.

The village is home to a number of national corporate headquarters and business centers.

Residents enjoy municipal and park district golf courses as well as numerous golf clubs in neighboring communities.

Interstate 55 runs through the southern part of the village, heading northeast to Chicago and southwest to Joliet. Interstate 355 runs along the east side of the village; and Illinois Route 53 runs north and south through the middle of the village.

High school students attend Bolingbrook High School, Plainfield North and Plainfield East, Neuqua Valley High School, Naperville, Naperville Central and Downers Grove South.
