About Montgomery

The close-knit village of Montgomery is nestled along the Fox River.

Incorporated in 1858, Montgomery is situated along both banks of the river in Kane and Kendall counties and is 40 miles west of Chicago.

Daniel Gray founded the village in 1835. The stone grist mill he built has since been restored and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

Despite a rapidly growing population and increase in residential construction, the village has maintained its small-town charm with local events such as the River Run in October and Montgomery Fest in August.

In June and July, the village joins the Fox Valley Park District in hosting Concerts on the Park in Montgomery Park. The events are a lively way to bring the community together with line dance lessons, ice cream socials, and barbeque dinners.

The village is served by five K-12 school districts: West Aurora School District #129, East Aurora School District #131, Oswego Community Unit School District #308, Yorkville Community School District #115, and Kaneland Community Unit School District #302.
