About Antioch

Located just south of the Wisconsin border in the Chicago metropolitan area, Antioch is a quaint community with a vibrant downtown business district.

Antioch was settled in the 1830s by brothers Darius and Thomas Gage. Incorporated as a village in 1892, Antioch grew as English and German immigrants came to the area. The village quickly established itself as a vacation destination for Chicagoans, and continued to grow following the arrival of a rail line between Chicago and Wisconsin.

A variety of housing styles can be found in Antioch, including ranch homes, split levels, and Cape Cod-style homes. The 2012 average sales price for a single-family home in Antioch was $173,602, and $135,395 for a condominium (source: Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC).

Students in Antioch attend schools within the Antioch Community Consolidated School District 34, which includes seven elementary schools and one high school, Antioch Community High School. There is a Metra station in the community, offering residents easy access to and from downtown Chicago, as well as a number of major state highways, including Route 83 and Route 173.

Antioch features a wide range of recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. There are a number of nearby lakes for fishing and boating, as well as numerous parks, a golf club, and the Village of Antioch Pool. The village also boasts a thriving downtown district with a mix of boutiques, antique shops and restaurants.
