About Downers Grove
Located in DuPage County, Downers Grove is approximately 22 miles west of downtown Chicago. The community has been ranked by CNN as one of the best places in the U.S. for a healthy retirement due to the community's numerous parks as well as doctors and hospitals. Forbes also ranked Downers Grove #8 on its list of America's friendliest towns, and according to the 2010 American Community Survey, Downers Grove was noted as having some of the nation's most educated citizens, with over 50% of its residents holding a Bachelor's degree or higher.
The community was established in the 1830s by Pierce Downer of New York. Incorporated in 1873, the village gained notoriety for its unusual spelling
