The Village of Franklin Park is a commuter’s dream.

The Cook County village has three Metra stations with daily service to Chicago including the Belmont Avenue Station on Metra’s North Central Line to Chicago’s Union Station; and Franklin Park and Mannheim stations on the Milwaukee District/West Line.

The railroad played a key part in the community when it was built in 1880. Lesser Franklin started planning a modern residential community and industrial area around the railroad.

The Village has continued to evolve from its early rural days with more than 18,000 residents and 1,000 businesses today. Industry here includes trucking, aerospace manufacturing, machine production and a pizza shop once voted the “best thin crust pizza in Chicago.”

Residents enjoy 17 parks totaling 24.14 acres as well as 250 programs a year and facilities including a year-round indoor ice arena and a practice arena; sports arena, community center and outdoor aquatic facility with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tube slides and diving area.

Elementary students attend Franklin Park School District 84; Schiller Park School District 81; and Mannheim School District 83 including Enger School in Melrose Park serving disabled children. High School students attend Students attend Leyden High School District 212’s East Leyden High School.
