Situated 40 miles from Chicago's Loop, Gurnee is a large town located just west of Waukegan. The community is known as the home to popular theme park Six Flags Great America, which continues to attract millions of visitors each year.

Gurnee's history dates back to the 1830s when settlers from Warren, New York arrived in the area. Initially known as Gurnee Station, the community was named after the train station in the village and Walter S. Gurnee, who served as Mayor of Chicago in the early 1850s.

In addition to Six Flags Great America, Gurnee boasts one of the largest shopping malls in Illinois, Gurnee Mills. The indoor mall features a number of retailers and is one of the village's biggest attractions. Each summer, the community also hosts its annual festival Gurnee Days, which features a wide range of activities and events including a farmers market, golf tournament, fireworks, parade, and talent show.
