About Highland Park
Located on the North Shore approximately 23 miles north of downtown Chicago, Highland Park is known for its vibrant business district and world-class recreational and cultural amenities including Ravinia Festival – the North Shore’s one-of-a-kind outdoor concert venue.
High-end homes for sale in Highland Park range from custom lakefront mansions to multi-million dollar contemporary estates. Mid-century moderns and in-town bungalows are plentiful at more modest price points, while a number of newer luxury condominium developments offer maintenance-free living within walking distance of downtown and commuter train stations. The community is also home to many landmark structures, including several homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Highland Park also created the first community land trust in Illinois to develop and preserve high-quality affordable housing for residents.
Highland Park shines during the summer when Ravinia Festival welcomes the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and a diverse lineup of musicians that attract residents and visitors alike. Residents also enjoy two public beaches and the North Shore Yacht Club, a not-for-profit membership organization for sailors, kayakers, power boaters, stand-up paddle boarders and social events. Downtown Highland Park thrives year-round thanks to an eclectic mix of businesses, including local restaurants, national retailers, and upscale boutiques.
