About Hoffman Estates
Hoffman Estates comprises over 20 square miles approximately 30 miles northwest of Chicago. The community is home to the headquarters of Sears Holding Corporation and the Midwest headquarters of AT&T. Incorporated in 1959, the village motto is “Growing to Greatness.”
The village of Hoffman Estates was known as a rural farming community until the 1950s, when the original residents of Hoffman Estates, reportedly called the “Pioneer First Families,” moved into their homes. The community experienced growth in the late 1950s following the opening of the Northwest Tollway, which attracted Chicago commuters.
Students in Hoffman Estates are served by several public school districts, primarily Township School District 54 and Township High School District 211. Harper Community College is located in nearby Palatine. The average 2012 sales price of a Hoffman Estates home was $235,325 (source: Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC).
Hoffman Estates offers a number of venues for dining and shopping, including Poplar Creek, Stone Eagle Tavern, The Saddle Room and Cabela’s, complete with a taxidermy museum and aquarium that attracts over a million visitors each year. The 100,000 square foot Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center is owned and operated by the Hoffman Estates Park District. Residents also enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities, including the Virginia Mary Hayter Village Green – a 12 acre park just west of the Sears Centre Arena. The Village Green also features an open-air amphitheater, which is home to the annual Hoffman Summer Concert Series.
