Michigan City is home to three golf courses, as well as a number of parks and beaches for those who love to explore the outdoors. Washington Park and Zoo is a local favorite, with beaches, fishing, bird watching, hiking, picnic areas, and sand volleyball popular in the summer months, as well as ice skating in the winter.
The Old Michigan City Light is a popular destination, as it is not only one of the last remaining lighthouses in Indiana, but one of the oldest, built in 1858.
Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa is located in Michigan City, and it includes a full-service casino with over 165,000 square feet encompassing two levels, as well as five restaurants, a spa, an entertainment lounge, a convention center, and nearly 500 hotel rooms.
