The village of La Grange is located 13 miles west of Chicago on over 2.5 square miles in Cook County. Founded by wholesale grocery pioneer Franklin Dwight Cossitt in 1862, the town was named LaGrange in honor of the town in Tennessee where he was raised.

La Grange's historic district is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and contains many restored Victorian, Queen Anne and Prairie School style homes. The 2012 average sales price for a single family home was $429,542, and $151,261 for a condominium.

Students are served by La Grange School Districts 102, 105, and 106, and Lyons Township High School. Private education is available from five schools and the community hosts 49 places of worship. Situated between the Tri-State Tollway and the Stevenson Expressway, La Grange offers residents convenient transportation options.
