About Melrose Park

Tree-lined streets, well-manicured homes, diverse cultures and a vibrant business community make Melrose Park a prime location for homebuyers and industry.

Melrose Park’s central location and proximity to freight yards led to an influx of businesses. The village made a number of improvements to attract more residents including repaving streets, replanting parks and redoing athletic fields.

Located 14 miles from Chicago, the village continues to expand, attracting more businesses and homebuyers. In fact, the suburb was named one of the best for first-time homebuyers by Chicago Magazine.

The strong business base has kept water rates and property tax rates among the lowest in the Chicago area.

In addition to convenient expressways, the community has a Metra Station with easy access to O’Hare, downtown Chicago and any number of shopping, dining and entertainment venues.

Proviso Township High School District 209 operates public high schools including Proviso East High School in Maywood. A number of private schools serve the community as well.

The once predominantly Italian-American community celebrates a variety of cultures. The Fest of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has been celebrated for over 120 years, the longest-running festival in the Chicago area. The community’s Hispanofest draws 125,000 people to the area; and the Labor Day Taste of Melrose Park is also a huge draw for visitors from across the state.
