The city of Watervliet, Dutch for “where the waters meet”, is a rural farming community in Berrien County.

Many Chicagoans make their summer homes here. Interstate 94 provides convenient access, crossing through the township with two interchanges and M-140 also runs through the area.
The city includes popular the Paw Paw Lake and Paw Paw River. Several housing developments surround the lake in Watervliet and Coloma.
The rolling timberland and flowing waters of the lake that emptied into Lake Michigan at the harbor of St. Joseph. The waterway made it ideal for industry and for those who enjoy the outdoors.
Watervliet School District serves the community with six schools including South Elementary, North Elementary and Watervliet Middle School and Watervliet High.
