About Printer's Row

Printers Row was once a thriving center of the printing and publishing; today it is a cozy neighborhood on the southern tip of the Loop.

The businesses are gone but the books and buildings remain. Industrial era buildings dating back as far as 1886 have been converted into residential lofts.

The neighborhood is centered along Dearborn Street from Congress Highway to Polk Street; and Plymouth Court and Federal Street. The Printing House Row District is an official landmark district. An annual Printers Row Lit Fest celebrates the area’s history every summer.

The neighborhood is known for its cozy attached homes, parks and playgrounds as well as its proximity to the Loop. Homes here include a variety of eras and styles. The low-key neighborhood enjoys a farmer’s market and the historic Dearborn Station as well as local bookstores and restaurants and bars.

Phillips Academy High School serves the community.

The walkable neighborhood is close to the lake, museum campus, Millennium Park and Michigan Avenue shopping. And residents have easy access to the Loop via the CTA.
