About Wadsworth

Situated a one-hour drive from downtown Chicago, Wadsworth is a small village located in Lake County. First settled in the 1830s by farmers, the village saw the arrival of railroad service in the 1870s after a man known as Mr. Lux sold the land that was necessary to build the railroad. Wadsworth ultimately was named after Elisha Wadsworth, who was one of the railroad's major shareholders. In 1962, Wadsworth was officially incorporated as a village.
