About Warrenville

Welcome to Warrenville, the city that Julius Warren built. Warren blazed a trail west from New York and settled along the DuPage River. To say he played a key role in the area’s development is an understatement – he not only cut the lumber for the first homes here, he also served as a mail carrier and innkeeper.

The city, 30 miles west of Chicago just north of Naperville, is known for its scenic landscape, numerous recreational opportunities and small-town feel. The community, incorporated in 1967, is located within the Illinois Technology and Research Corridor, home to several corporate headquarters.

Surrounded by five forest preserves and the Fermi National Laboratory, Warrenville has more than 10,000 acres of open space and 30 miles of bike paths. Residents enjoy bike riding, fishing, canoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing and camping.

The Ferry Creek Wetland Restoration at Summerlakes Park offers six acres of open land for water conservation and wildlife. The community also enjoys plenty of entertainment including the Acorn Community Theater, which features large-scale summer musicals.

Warrenville students attend Community Unit School District 200, which includes several elementary schools, middle schools and Wheaton Warrenville South High School located in neighboring Wheaton.

The community is accessible via the Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway and Metra, which has a station just south of the city in Naperville.
