About Como

Located in Walworth County in the town of Geneva, Como is a census-designated place on the northern shores of Lake Como.

The first settler to arrive in Geneva was Christopher Payne, who came to Geneva in 1836 and eventually settled in Lake Como. Major settlement in the area did not begin until the latter stages of the 19th century when railroad companies began to make inroads into Wisconsin. The area became increasingly accessible to Chicagoans, who came to the area in droves and changed the complexion of the town forever.

With direct access to Lake Como and nearby Geneva Lake, residents and visitors of Como enjoy a variety of aquatic activities including boating, waterskiing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, paddle boarding, and beach-going. Golfing is another popular recreational activity, with Geneva National Golf Club offering world-class courses that have been ranked among the best in the Midwest. When it comes to dining, Como is home to a lakeside bar and grill called In The Drink, and also just a short distance from several restaurants in the town of Lake Geneva.
