Surrounded by forests and winding nature trails, the city of Winfield is a nature lover’s dream.
The newly-constructed Winfield Mounds Trail Segment on the West Branch of the DuPage River Trail provides a great setting for recreational activity. The trail winds through the forest preserve, downtown Winfield, and the West DuPage Woods Forest Preserve and links up with the Illinois Prairie Path.
Winfield is a vibrant community that is also known for its quiet neighborhoods and bustling business districts. The village is home to Central DuPage Hospital, one of the largest in the Chicago suburbs.
Built in 1849, Hedges Station is the oldest train depot in Illinois. It was moved to Winfield Road and turned into a museum after facing destruction in the late 70s.
Residents enjoy convenient commuter service to Chicago with a Metra station on the Union Pacific/West Line.
The village is served by three public school districts including two elementary schools and Community Unit School District 200, which is K-12. High school students attend nearby West Community High School and Wheaton North High School.
