Surrounded by forests and winding nature trails, the city of Winfield is a nature lovers’ dream.
The newly constructed Winfield Mounds Trail Segment on the West Branch of the DuPage River Trail winds through the forest preserve, downtown Winfield and the West DuPage Woods Forest Preserve linking up with the Illinois Prairie Path.
The trail not only brings more recreational opportunities to the area, but the three-mile segment will bring new life to downtown businesses.
Winfield is home to Central DuPage Hospital, one of the largest in the Chicago suburbs.
Residents enjoy convenient commuter service to Chicago with a Metra station on the Union Pacific/West Line.
The community’s Hedges Station was the oldest train depot in Illinois, built in 1849. The community rallied to save the depot from destruction. It was moved to Winfield Road and turned into a museum.
The village is served by three public school districts including two elementary schools and Community Unit School District 200, which is K-12. High school students attend nearby West Community High School and Wheaton North High School.
