Christos Prappas certainly has a penchant for people! A family man to the core, Christos has found his fit in real estate thanks to his love of meeting and interacting with everyday people.

Spend some time with this Glenview broker in this week's @properties Agent Spotlight.

How did you land in a real estate career?
I have always wanted to be self-employed and I love working in a fast-paced environment. My people-friendly personality combined with a love of meeting new people made real estate a natural job for me.

Before real estate, what were you doing and how did that experience prepare you for your current role?
I was in the restaurant industry working as a bartender and bar manager. That experience prepared me to understand people, provide great customer service, and build the stamina to work very long hours.

What is your favorite part of working in real estate?
There is a long list of things I like about working in real estate, but if I had to pick two I'd say meeting new people and working hard to help them achieve their goals.

What is one thing you literally could not do your job without?
I have to say my phone, I am constantly talking on it, plus it helps to keep my days organized.

The craziest thing that ever happened to me on the job was…
When a naked man opened the door for a showing!

What is one piece of advice you'd give to a new real estate agent?
Have confidence in yourself!

When on a showing, I always bring these three things with me…
A contract, a listing sheet, and my phone so I am prepared for anything.

My clients would describe me as…
Straight-forward, experienced, confident.

How do you kick off each day?
My day starts at 6 am with a cup a coffee and my nose buried in the latest local, international, and financial news.

Give us a great restaurant recommendation.
Any authentic Greek restaurant and I would always recommend seafood!

What do you love most about your neighborhood?
Location because it is central to the markets that I serve and it offers a sense of community for my family.

How do you stay involved in your community?
I am serving as president of the board for a Greek American non-profit organization. Our main goal is to help the welfare of our new, adoptive country and in our surrounding community.

What is your proudest achievement to date?
My proudest achievement is coming to Chicago as an immigrant being able to grow to where I am now professionally. I'm also proud of my family, and the all of the friendships I have established and maintained over the years.

What is the best advice you've ever been given?
Family comes first.

My family would describe me as…
Honest, hospitable, entertaining.

If I weren't a real estate agent, I would be…
A history professor, or an FBI agent.

You have a full day free in your town with no obligations and cost is no object. What do you do?
Visit museums or head to the spa! And, of course, I'd visit a Michelin star rated restaurant.

If you won the lottery I'd buy…
A home in Southern France on the Riviera!

If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?
I'd love to have the power to be in two places at once.
