One of Detroit's most beloved bartenders and musicians has made the leap from bar tending to realtor.
Craig Brown is a man who has a deep love for the Motor City and all of the people in it. Currently, as a
realtor for Alexander Real Estate Detroit - a boutique brokerage in Downtown Detroit, Craig Brown
specializes in sales and rentals in the neighborhoods where he has lived and worked for the last 16 years.
This includes but is not limited to Boston Edison, Corktown, Hamtramck, Midtown, New Center, and
Southwest.
In 2020, Brown's amateur curiosity germinated into professional interest when one of his regulars
suggested that he look into becoming a real estate agent. "It was the perfect time for a change," says
Brown, as the bands which he plays in and the bars where he worked went on indefinite COVID hiatus,
thus, allowing him the time to explore other options. "It is a venture I have become obsessed with. I love
working with renters and buyers, families and developers, native Michiganders and transplants from
around the world."
One major similarity between Brown's prior professions and his new one is the human interaction
element. "I realize they're all people businesses where you have to be able to connect to individuals right
away," Brown states. "I am a people person with a love of performing on stage and off. I never want to
disappoint people. I am an agent that knows the market around me because I live in it, and I am part of its
ever changing trends. Being a real estate agent you must be flexible not just to your own schedule but to
your client's schedule as well. It is similar to being in a band because you're working together as a team
in order to accomplish something amazing."
In his free time, Craig loves camping and exploring. Since 2008, Craig has musically mentored
disadvantaged youths throughout Metro Detroit. Pre-COVID, Craig loved organizing, performing, and
promoting live music as well as touring with his bands throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Mexico.
