Make the Most of a Small Kitchen

1) Donate Unused Stuff

Before you move into your new space, get rid of all the things that you don't need anymore. Have you actually used that pizza pan in the past couple of years? If not, donate it to Goodwill, or a local charity shop. Someone else might get use out of it, and you'll be saving yourself from more clutter in your new home.

2) Try Vertical Storage

Vertical storage is a wonderful method of using space, and your kitchen has some interesting options for making the most of it. You can hang pot racks, magnetic knife strips, mounted dish-drying racks, hooks for towels, and more! I've got plenty of other ideas too - contact me for more!

3) Use Nice Looking Cleaning Tools

Unfortunately, most everyday cleaning items need to be out and ready to use, but that doesn't mean they have to be an eyesore. So, try to get ride of the plastic and get yourself a classic wooden broom, natural fiber dish brush and a glass soap dispenser. These items don't cost much, while adding a softer look and getting the job done.

4) Small Kitchen Island

A kitchen island is a versatile tool for just about any space— even the smallest kitchens! Whether you choose a large center-of-the-room piece or a small butcher-block, these islands create more counter space and storage. Plus, if your island has wheels, it can serve as a portable bar.

5) Keep it Light

Always remember: GOOD LIGHTING IMPORTANT. If you consider your kitchen as a place to get things done, invest in bright, cooler lighting. It creates an invigorating feeling. If you're a romantic type, and enjoy taking your time in the kitchen, use warm lighting to keep you comfortable. For those who prefer a bit of both, app-enabled bulbs can customize the mood for any occasion.

6) Keep it Alive

Kitchens should have a plant. Not only do they look nice, but they also improve the quality of the air. If you don't have the floor or counter space, a hanging plant will work great. No natural light in your kitchen?  Try a realistic artificial plant. Everyone can benefit from the organic shapes of ferns,  or event the ever-popular fiddle-leaf figs.

No matter how challenging your space is, there is always a solution.
