Vanessa joined at properties in early June of 2007. Having had almost 4 years in the real estate industry, Vanessa brings to @properties her passion for real estate and love of helping people. Born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, she had first made her move to Chicago 5 years ago with aspirations of becoming a lawyer. She decided to get experience in the field and worked as a trial and litigation project assistant at a top Chicago law firm. Soon after she decided to move on from law and start her career in real estate. Vanessa's first few years in the real estate industry began with selling commercial properties. She started at Marcus and Millichap, a nationally known Commercial Real Estate Investment Brokerage company. She participated in an intense training program and worked on a team that specialized in the sale of Mobile Home Communities across the Midwest. Additionally, her team also sold small office buildings and apartments around the Chicagoland area. After moving on from Marcus & Millichap, Vanessa took a position with a boutique retail, development, and brokerage company. While with that company she focused on the finding land for development opportunities for both home builders and national retailers.
In between all these great experiences, Vanessa had been approached to assist her friends and family with the purchase of residential real estate in Chicago. She decided she didn’t want to refer out the business anymore and in February of 2006 Vanessa moved on from her corporate roots to pursue a more entrepreneurial opportunity. Soon after, Vanessa was up and running and joined a national real estate firm and top team specializing in the sale of luxury Gold Coast properties. She had a great first year working on a 100% referral bases and assisting over 20 clients with finding the perfect place in the Gold Coast, River North, West Loop, South Loop, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Square, and Bucktown/Logan Square neighborhoods. With over 50% of her buyer clients purchasing from @developments, Vanessa liked what she saw from @properties and joined to be a part of the energy, top marketing support and sales services for its agents and developers.
Vanessa is a graduate of Michigan State University, James Madison College (2001) and is a die-hard Spartan! You may even catch her doing some good old campus tailgating during football season! She also holds a paralegal degree with honors form Loyola University-Water Tower in Real Estate and Commercial Transactions (2005). Outside of real estate Vanessa is part of many up and coming non-for-profit and club board of directors. She currently resides in a new position as a Board of Director, Young Alumni Coordinator for Michigan State Alumni Assoc of Metro Chicago (www.chicagostpartans.com
