My first home, a three-bedroom, one-bath, aluminum-sided fixer-upper in the suburbs of Detroit, cost $22,500 and was financed at an interest rate of 10.5%. Since then I have bought and sold nearly four dozen properties of my own, which has given me a world of insight and plenty of empathy for the buyers and sellers I now serve as my clients.
