Sarah joined @properties in May of 2009. She came from a background in real estate property management, which transitioned to a career in real estate sales. Initially after college, Sarah started her career as a producer in advertising, working on TV and radio spots for two large agencies in Chicago while managing property in Lincoln Park. After purchasing her first property, her longtime passion for real estate led her to leave advertising and start a full time career in the real estate world. Sarah has been selling real estate since 2007.
Sarah was born and raised in the city of Chicago, and her family continues to live here. She grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and her family moved to the Graceland West area when she was a child. Sarah is intimately familiar with all of Chicago’s north and west side neighborhoods, and knows everything from the school systems to public transportation and certainly all the great places to eat (and there are a lot of them!). Sarah is a graduate of Bell School and St. Ignatius College Prep. She also attended Lincoln Park Co-op for pre-school and The Latin School for a year. After high school, Sarah attended the University of Michigan (go blue!) in Ann Arbor, MI. She got her BA in English and continues to be a fervent reader (when time permits). Every year Sarah tries to get back to Ann Arbor for a Zingerman’s sandwich and some football.
The northwest side neighborhood of Logan Square is where Sarah currently lives in a gut rehabbed house she and her designer husband purchased in 2012. Sarah’s passion for renovations and rehabs continues to grow as she purchases properties to rehab them in the Logan Square, West Bucktown and Humboldt Park areas of the city. This knowledge of the innards of buildings plays a large part in Sarah’s ability to help her clients. From plumbing to roofs to digging out a basement, Sarah can help buyers and sellers ask the right questions to get the answers they need when making a real estate decision.
In 2012, she started the Sarah Maxwell Group, a division of @properties to help increase the support for her buyers and sellers, and to begin mentoring other agents. This group has grown to three members as of December 2013. The Sarah Maxwell Group makes sure buyers and sellers are supported with answers when needed and that someone is always available to show a property.
In her free time, Sarah likes to spend time with her husband and her crazy dog Ramona (a Shepherd mix) at the park near their house. She also likes to travel (next stop: Scotland and Iceland), do work around her house and her investments, take winter ski trips and summer vacations to Steamboat Springs, CO, and eat at as many delicious restaurants as possible in Chicago. Sarah is also a longtime “foster parent” for dogs at the Anti-Cruelty Society and the president of a 32-team not-for-profit softball league. In addition to all this, she plays in a kick-butt kickball league each fall in Union Park.
Sarah works across the city, but specializes in the Bucktown, Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village/East Village areas, Humboldt Park, Albany Park, Lincoln Square, Avondale, Streeterville, River North, West Loop, Roscoe Village and all of Chicago’s north side (Old Town through Rogers Park.
The absolute most satisfying part of real estate sales for Sarah is working with people and helping them find a home that they love. All of Sarah’s business is referral based from past clients or repeat clients who have had an infinitely positive experience buying or selling with Sarah.
