Located approximately 30 miles from Chicago, Bannockburn is a tranquil neighborhood known for its plentiful open spaces. The rural community was first settled in 1835 when Irish immigrants arrived in the area. Scottish architect and builder William Aitken then brought residential development to the community after planning an inland of country estates across more than 100 acres of land. Bannockburn was ultimately incorporated as a village in 1929, at which time there were 30 families living in the town.
