Glencoe's Chicago Botanic Garden to Host Kite Festival

Join the Chicago Botanic Gardens on Saturday, August 10th and Sunday, August 11th for its annual Kite Festival, a day of creativity and family-centered fun. Your little ones are sure to enjoy the Kite Making Workshops which will run from 10 am through 2 pm. If you want to witness professionals navigating their kite with dexterity, demonstrations will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

Enjoy the beautiful green space provided by the Botanic Gardens' meadow, just east of Evening Island, where an afternoon of ice cream and other delicious treats provided by attending food trucks await you. Public fly times will be interspersed throughout both days at the following times: 11:30 am to 12 noon; 1 pm - 1:30 pm and 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm. The Chicago Fire Kite Team will also be on hand, showcasing their awe-inspiring talents, described by observers as "team sport kite ballet." Witness their amazing dexterity and skills to a resounding musical soundtrack for a kite flying experience sure to make memories. The Chicago Fire Kite Team has performed around the globe in England, France, Japan, and Canada. The first thirty children to register for a kite-making workshop will be allowed to fly in the competition too.
